The Midlands is a part of the UK with character to spare, making it an eternally joyful and interesting part of the world to visit for weekend getaways, walking holidays, city breaks and both summer and winter vacations. For example, hotels in the West Midlands enjoy the country’s genealogy dating back to the Middle Ages when it was a centre of commerce and industry. Still today it retains that lively sense of possibility.

Referred to as the Heart of England, The Midlands is the home of William Shakespeare as well as architectural gems such as Lincoln Cathedral. The tomb of Richard III is amongst the markers of its cultural significance, and then of course there’s the beauty of hotels in the Peak District, seaside hotels in the likes of Skegness and cosmopolitan getaways at hotels in Birmingham, a centre of art and culture.

In addition to the cultural heritage of The Midlands, the natural beauty of the area, as well as its inherently high standards of hospitality, have made it a popular destination for hotel wedding venues in the Midlands. Weddings are a chance to capitalise on the romance of the countryside, the splendour of the buildings, and in no small part, indulge in the excellent gastronomy afforded to the area by locally sourced produce served in the hotel restaurants. You can also see our recommendations for hotels in the East Midlands.

Hotels, B&Bs, country houses, inns, restaurants with rooms

The Midlands claims to be the real core of the country, the place where you find what makes England tick. Much of the industrial wealth of the country is generated here. But it also has a fascinating history, and has many fine castles such as Warwick and beautiful country towns like Ludlow, Baslow and Cheltenham. The Royal Shakespeare theatre company is based at Stratford-on-Avon and the Peak District National Park are world-class attractions.

Where to stay in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Rutland, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire, and Warwickshire.
