Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Foodie heaven with the bonus of nearby culture,’ was a Guide insider’s verdict on this restaurant-with-rooms a short spin by loan bike from Stratford-upon-Avon. Readers enjoying a family lunch for 25 agreed that 'the food is excellent', while others revelled in the 'amount of choice,' and the fact that everything was 'delicious, fresh and tasty'. The centrepiece is ‘an old barn, beautifully done out, with statement lights dangling from impossibly high, beamed ceilings’. It's a ‘spectacular setting’, for a menu that might feature a broad range of dishes, including Thai chicken skewers, confit duck leg and chicken parmigiana. Service is 'lovely, cheerful and kindly'. Groups can meet or eat in a private room. There is a 'slight US motel feel’ about the 'smart new hotel block', but rooms are well equipped and all have either a Juliet balcony or terrace. ‘Our enormous room had a neutral palette, mustard and green chairs, an impressively large, powerful walk-in shower.’ Fresh milk in a fridge, an espresso machine and posh toiletries are welcome extras. ‘There is a splendid breakfast menu.'
