‘A stylish stay in the Peak District, Wildhive’s ethos is to get back to nature without foregoing creature comforts,’ our inspector writes. It centres on Victorian-Gothic Callow Hall, with outposts in treehouses and ‘hives’. 'Isabella Worsley has injected a huge amount of style within. Expect rose-pink seats and sea-green walls hung with vintage flower pressings and botanical prints.’ The ‘beautifully designed’ house bedrooms have ‘carefully composed fabrics’, an espresso machine, 100 Acres toiletries, perhaps an in-room bath. Timber hives are cantilevered over the wooded hillside. 'Ours felt cosy and welcoming, with a kitchenette cleverly incorporated within a cupboard, and everything thought of, including washing-up liquid’, a ‘tiny bathroom’ and furnished deck. Two-bedroom treehouses with a living room/kitchen have a copper bath on wraparound decking. Dinner in the ‘glass box’ Garden Restaurant brought ‘tasty seafood misto, yummy local bread, good ice cream, but nothing really outstanding’.
