Good Hotel Guide Review
Behind high walls, at the end of a crunchy drive, this handsomely proportioned Georgian manor house in the shade of ancient yew trees is both gracious and welcoming. Run as a B&B by Charles and Charlotte Meynell, it has a country-house charm, with generous sofas in the fire-warmed drawing room, and bedrooms decorated with character. Some rooms have handsome beams; all have garden views. ‘It’s a family home, and feels like one,’ the hosts say. Charlotte’s breakfasts offer home-made granola and jams, and eggs from the resident hens; pub grub is as near as the end of the drive. Historic market towns Melbourne and Ashby-de-la-Zouch are close.
