Hotels in Provence

Think of Provence and Mediterranean climates, fields of lavender, sunshine, small hilltop villages, famous painters come to mind. We think of local Provençal cuisine, celebrating simple local ingredients like tomatoes, garlic, saffron and wild herbs - the type of food that nurtures the soul and would be pride of place in any family home.

All of this and more is at the heart of hospitality in this beautiful region in southeastern France bordering Italy and the Mediterranean Sea. This corner of the South of France is a feast for the senses and has deservedly been a very popular holiday destination for decades, whether it's for family holidays or romantic escapes.

The landscape, painted by so many of the Old Masters (such as Gauguin, Matisse and Van Gogh) is just as spectacular in real life, with vibrant fields stretching towards the horizon. Coastal cities overlook the azure ocean, while inland, sleepy villages have quaint charming cobblestone streets. Outdoor markets are a highlight here: honey, cheese, herbs and seasonal fruit and vegetables are all beautifully displayed, and seafood is abundant.

For the adventurous traveller, there are vineyards, mountains and bird-watching; for those who prefer to laze, many hotels have everything you need, such as outdoor swimming pools, beautiful gardens, and incredible food.
