Boutique hotels, B&Bs, palazzi, apartments

Our selection of hotels in Rome are all are hand picked: the places we feature have been repeatedly recommended and reviewed by our readers.

They cover a range of price points, locations and styles, too. Some are spectacular Art Deco treasures, such as the Hotel Locarno, which has a pleasant courtyard and roof terrace for the warmer months, and the Hotel Lord Byron, which is a little further away from the city centre but feels like a real retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Rooms at the La Residenza are not particularly stylish, but the hotel more than makes up for this with lavish buffet breakfasts, attentive staff and a great central location. The Hotel Barocco, close to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps, has elegant rooms, with luxurious drapes and oil paintings; the rooftop suite even has an outdoor tub, perfect for honeymooners and unusual for central Rome.
