Good Hotel Guide Review
In a quietish street near the Piazza del Popolo, this Art Deco hotel opened in 1925 and later increased its size by extending into an adjacent building. It has a ‘charming internal courtyard’, said its nominators: the ample breakfast buffet is served here. Drinks are served on the rooftop terrace in summer. ‘The lovely old interiors have a slightly faded air of gentility’: many original features survive: antiques and 1950s items create a ‘relaxing, undesigned’ ambience. ‘Our high-ceilinged room had huge windows, a large chandelier, efficient air conditioning so no traffic noise. The large bathroom had an old freestanding cast iron bath. Housekeeping was good.’ Single rooms are small, however. In the ‘comfortable lounge area’, light meals and snacks are served. ‘Staff are helpful. Bicycles are available free of charge.’ A recent visitor noted, ‘The clientele are interesting – it is a favourite place for people in the film industry. It was rather tucked away in terms in location, but it was quiet – a bonus in Rome’.
