Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Well located’, at the foot of Via Veneto, this historic building is within easy walking distance of the sights of ancient Rome, ‘and the classy shopping streets’. ‘Very comfortable’, says a visitor; it has cherry wood in the breakfast room, ‘antique’ stucco and 19th-century prints and oil paintings on the walls, luxurious fabrics, and marble from Trani in the large bathrooms. Front rooms have ‘a nice, if noisy’ view over the Piazza Barberini; some rooms have a balcony or terrace, and the rooftop suite has an outdoor heated tub. Comments include: ‘We could not fault our spacious suite.’ ‘Our room, not large, had sturdy custom-built furniture and two large windows overlooking a small side street. Efficient air conditioning and comfortable beds ensured a good night’s sleep.’ ‘Everything is spotless.’ ‘First-rate buffet breakfast.’ The manager, Franco Caruso, leads a ‘pleasant staff’. ‘English afternoon tea’ and drinks are served in the small bar. No restaurant; plenty nearby.
