                  History, culture, hills and beaches

                  Lisbon is one of those all-rounder destinations, offering culture, history, great food and weather, and the beach. Its many hills means that there are views almost everywhere you go, but trams and funiculars save the visitor from too much exertion, especially when it’s hot. 

                  Highlights include the Castle of São Jorge, which overlooks the city, the many Gothic cathedrals, and the leafy plazas and narrow back streets of the old city.

                  The city is also renowned for its fresh seafood, custard tarts (pastel de nata), piri piri spicy seasoning, and drinks-wise, for its port and ginjinha (sour cherry liqeur).
