The Victoria Inn

The Victoria Inn

Durham

Cracking ales and crackling fires, bolstered by period features, help turn back time at this unspoilt, family-run Victorian inn. Cosy bars, full of nooks and crannies, provide a welcoming atmosphere. For those staying over, there are traditionally decorated bedrooms (most with a bath and shower) and a hearty breakfast in the morning. The inn is a five-minute walk from the cathedral, the castle and market quarter. No meals, but restaurants are nearby. Off-street parking is available.

For many visitors, it’s the great outdoors that’s the major draw card to this corner of the North East. Golf, cycling, walking and fishing are all readily available. For history lovers, the area’s award-winning museums and medieval castles are a treat. The Binchester Roman Fort, Bowes Museum and Beamish Living Museum of the North are all recommended.

Accommodation in County Durham ranges from cosy pubs with rooms to luxury spa hotels and country house retreats. From Lanchester to Westgate, Darlington to Seaham, whether you're travelling with friends, family or heading for a romantic retreat, here’s a selection of our favourite hotels in County Durham, providing more reasons to visit than we can count!
