Good Hotel Guide Review

Garden suites with hot tubs, a state-of-the-art spa, brightly coloured sofas under gleaming chandeliers … this country-house hotel offers luxury with a contemporary edge. Ten minutes’ walk from the cliffs of County Durham, the white Georgian hall – where Lord Byron married – is a mix of classical features and modern design. With its Asian-themed spa, lounges and terrace, the emphasis is on switching off. ‘A wonderfully relaxing experience,’ reports a reader. ‘Nothing was too much trouble.’ The team has a ‘can-do attitude’. Bedrooms are huge affairs – ‘magnificent, a real suite with a separate adjoining room’ – with a contemporary country-house style of bold feature wallpapers and zinging colours. High-quality bathrooms have ‘excellent fittings’. Rooms in the hall have sea views, those in the newer wing overlook gardens; some have private gardens and a hot tub. Eat in the ‘very comfortable dining room’ on ‘high-standard food’ that could include turbot with mussels, and lamb with barbecued aubergine, or more casually in the spa’s Asian-themed restaurant, Ozone. ‘We have already booked another stay.’ (Stephen and Pauline Glover, IL, and others)

Comments about Seaham Hall

what a wonderfully relaxing experience it was to stay at Seaham Hall, nothing was too much trouble. The staff are so pleasant and helpful , from the moment you arrive and your bags are collected ,you are welcomed by the helpful reception team they all have a " can do" attitude. The food , served in a very comfortable dining room is of a very high standard with a varied menu .However the service is second to none .I advised the hotel that I could not eat nuts or seeds .So often this is glossed over and not passed to the restaurant but not here .Every night when the menus were presented one of the restaurant team would carefully go through the menu with me. I must commend Liam in particular for all his help and advise .We have never been big users of spas but this one changed our minds .After the relaxation massage we both said," we must try this again". We enjoyed our four night break so much that we have already booked another in November. - Ian Larrington - September 2021
We were made very welcome and were well cared for. The staff are the hotel's main strength, mostly young, enthusiastic; they did their best to look after us. We thought the decors bizarre. Lighting controls too complicated. House-keeping meticulous. The dinner menu did not change but there was plenty of choice. Breakfast has an innovative range of dishes. - Andrew Wardrop - February 2019
That grounds are wonderful and the staff are really helpful and friendly. above and beyond what one should be able to expect of this level of hotel - a wonderful place and a delight to visit. . - Stephen & Pauline Glover - July 2017
