Good Hotel Guide Review
Behind the ‘pretty façade’ of a Georgian town house in an affluent market town, this hotel is a perfect retreat, with small spa, oasis garden and croquet lawn. Choose from a variety of ‘classically, quirkily decorated’ bedrooms and suites, perhaps with a dreamy, draped four-poster and an in-room stand-alone bath. All have fine fabrics and statement artworks, homemade cookies, White Company toiletries. A somewhat ‘old-fashioned’ bathroom nonetheless had ‘an excellent, very powerful shower’, said our inspectors. Dog-friendly, sedum-roofed ‘potting shed’ suites have underfloor heating, a wet room, a private patio. Light lunches and afternoon tea can be served alfresco when the sun shines, amid flower-scented borders.
