Eco values as well as enjoyment are fundamental to this cliff-top hotel, with sea thrift-covered roof, sweeping curves, reed-filtered pool and walls of windows to soak up the light and the seascape. A sister to Bedruthan (see entry), it makes the most of its commanding position above the beach at Mawgan Porth. The view is on show everywhere you go, from the restaurant with outdoor terrace and ‘exceptional food’ to the sublime spa. Outdoor hot tubs are perfectly positioned to watch the sun set and a meadow garden with private pods runs down to the South West Coast Path. The Scandi-styled bedrooms, with stripped-wood floors and floor-to-ceiling windows, all have outside space – a balcony, terrace or rooftop viewing ‘pod’. Readers praise the serenity in this adults-only bolt-hole as well as the ‘wonderful, relaxed service’. Public spaces have bespoke furniture and works by Cornish artists. Dinner might include slow-aged steak, Atlantic hake, or local courgette with butterbean hummus from a dedicated ‘plant’ menu.
