Good Hotel Guide Review
Life on the water’s edge doesn’t come much closer than at this large hotel, the oldest in the maritime town. The building is an amalgam of modern additions to a 17th-century sailors’ pub; today, coastal light floods in to its public spaces, and its bedrooms and suites, some harbour facing, are bright and contemporary. Returning readers love it: 'It seems to get better each time.' They 'particularly appreciated the Cornish leaf tea, a cafetiere with real coffee and a Nespresso machine. Really good lighting too.’ Food is served all day in the restaurant (perhaps lamb or seafood classics); in the dog-friendly Working Boat pub, you'll find Sunday roasts and a home brew. Step straight on to a boat from the hotel’s pontoons; a ten-minute stroll away, board the ferry to Flushing. (Stephen Parish)
