Good Hotel Guide Review
Owned by the ‘hands-on’ Zanon De Marchi family, this ‘wonderful’ hotel (Relais & Chateaux) is in a village in the foothills of the Dolomites, amid the vineyards of Prosecco. Its restaurant, ‘La Corte’, holds a Michelin star for its ‘modern twists on traditional Venetian dishes, and classics from Puglia’. Served in several ‘beautifully decorated’ rooms, it opens to the garden in summer, and has blazing fires in winter. Ingredients come from the ‘thriving vegetable garden’ across the square beside the pretty river. The bedrooms, all furnished differently, have ‘an English country house feel’. Some overlook a ‘lovely’ plant-filled inner courtyard, and have a large balcony. ‘The beds are extremely comfortable; everything is immaculate. The staff are helpful. Breakfast has fresh flowers. a large buffet, a glass of Prosecco to start if you wish. Freshly squeezed juice and eggs ordered separately.’ The village is ‘an ideal place for a holiday – it is midway between Cortina in the mountains and Venice on the coast’. The Hotel Chiostri, across the road, is also owned by the family, ‘very modern (Philippe Starck furniture), same excellent service’. (Pat and Jeremy Temple)
