In two adjacent buildings, dating from 1452 and 1538, Philip O’Shea’s restaurant-with-rooms is in the heart of the historic market town. `Inside, the restaurant is modern, with exposed brick walls and wooden floors, and is popular with locals for its informal lunches, Sunday roasts and evening menus. Meat is supplied by a local master butcher; fish and good vegetarian dishes are also available. A wide range of drinks and snacks is served in the newly refurbished cocktail bar and lounge, or under umbrellas in the courtyard garden. Smart bedrooms in cool colours have Hypnos mattresses, air conditioning, dressing gowns, fine toiletries and widescreen TVs; a two-bedroom suite is ideal for a family.
