Good Hotel Guide Review
Between the South Downs and the Sussex coast, the Newbon family’s revived village pub enfolds locals and visitors alike in its warmly welcoming atmosphere. Sussex brews, local gins, Sunday roasts and delicious gastropub dishes are served in the oak-floored bar and smart, informal restaurant. In clement weather the decked terrace overlooking St Nicholas Gardens is just the spot for an alfresco meal. Come winter, a log fire burns in the inglenook fireplace. Individually decorated, comfortably furnished bedrooms have vintage touches, a coffee machine, and a gentle country charm in their plaids and florals. They each pay tribute to a former landlord of the pub, keeping the history of the building alive. Some can accommodate an extra bed for a child.
