Good Hotel Guide Review
Hip and convivial, this modish Spitalfields gastropub-with-rooms is a stroll up the colourful street from the Whitechapel Gallery. It is named after 19th-century social reformer, abolitionist and brewer Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton who would no doubt approve of its sustainable values, vintage styling and local beers. Each of the compact, neat bedrooms has a micro-library of East London-themed books, and handwoven artworks, rugs and blankets made by local weavers. Guests can ascend to the roof terrace for 360-degree views across the East End and the City, or head down to the brick-painted bar and bistro for British-European menus. 'We had a wonderful time. We particularly liked the nice choice at breakfast and the ambience of the bar. A great wee gem.' (Agnes and Andy Gardiner)
