Good Hotel Guide Review
Just the place for watching a Friday-evening cricket match, this welcoming inn dating back to the 17th-century faces the village green. It is owned and run by Norfolk locals Amelia Nicholson and Marcus Seaman, who restored and expanded the old pub to include stylish modern bedrooms in converted barns, each with direct access to the large garden, courtyard or herb garden. Two rooms have a freestanding bath; all are supplied with a small bottle of sloe gin, home-made shortbread, complimentary eco-friendly toiletries, and a Roberts radio. Lively groups of locals gather for Norfolk brews, cocktails and wines around original inglenook fireplaces, or in the large garden. Nature trails, country estates and the North Norfolk coastline are all within easy reach. Readers are impressed: ‘Traditional pub with a lovely atmosphere, fantastic staff and mouth-watering food. We can’t wait to return.’ (David Wright)
