Good Hotel Guide Review
Six 18th-century townhouses form the front of this new hotel under the south tower of One Crown Place, on the Shoreditch/City border. Designer interiors that nod to the building’s Georgian past feel clubby and inviting, with witty modern artworks and plenty of spaces to eat, drink, relax. ‘The common areas are beautiful, just how you want a luxury boutique hotel to look and feel,’ say readers. Bedrooms have rich colours, splendid bathrooms, a coffee machine, Penhaligon toiletries. In fine-dining Quercus, British produce is given a South-East Asian twist, with steaks from the Josper grill and dishes such as wild halibut, mushroom dashi, pak choi, enoki. There is all-day dining in the glass-roofed orangery. (RM)
