Good Hotel Guide Review
You half expect to find a chamber pot under the bed, and Dante Gabriel Rossetti taking tea by the drawing-room fire at this 19th-century villa, a homage to the Victorian Aesthetic movement, perfect in every detail. With its carefully curated plethora of ceramics, chinoiserie, religious art, fire screens and antimacassars, it delights ‘greenery-yallery, Grosvenor Gallery’ aficionados; minimalists maybe not so much. The Old Nursery, Colonel’s Room and Nanny Hawkins Room have a private bathroom with Victorian fittings. Mr Parry’s Room has a canopied four-poster, a dressing room and ensuite shower room. Breakfast includes fruit from the walled garden, eggs from the hens, honey from the beehives, an Aga-cooked full English served on silver dishes.
