Good Hotel Guide Review

This quintessential English country house with spa, pools, kids’ club, elegant bedrooms and fun treehouses hits all the right luxurious notes for a romantic or family stay. ‘Outstanding in its luxury,' writes a happy reader. Tennis, golf, croquet, gardens and woodland – plus a path to the beach – mean that there’s no need to leave this five-star cocoon. Relax in one of the lounges with their old-school elegance or around the pool in the light-flooded spa. There is also an outdoor pool. Main house bedrooms are lightly traditional – soft colours, marble bathrooms – with parkland views, many with balcony or terrace. Suites are more contemporary while the treehouses are sharply modern, and 'out of this world' with 'wonderful forest views, a hot tub on the balcony, stocked kitchenette and breakfast hamper that appeared through a chute in the kitchen'. ‘Wonderful food’ is served in the glass-roofed Dining Room for traditional fine dining such as Thai lobster curry or rib-eye on the bone (vegetarian, too), and the breezier Kitchen for gourmet burgers and pizzas. Staff were 'plentiful, courteous and well trained'. (Anthony Bradbury, VS, and others)

Comments about Chewton Glen

The hotel kindly upgraded us to a Treehouse room, following a slightly disappointing experience the previous year. The Treehouse is the most wonderful suite, - Victoria Sterman - September 2021
A gorgeous oasis in the New Forest with fantastic facilities, kind and thoughtful people looking after us, and fantastic restaurants. We took a walk to the beach through the woods; the coast is gorgeous. Chewton Glen is the ultimate indulgent treat, not to be missed! - Alexandra Heaton - September 2019
There were 15 of us enjoying a family weekend (our ages ranged from 8 to 80). From the start we loved the feeling of laid-back luxury. We enjoyed superb food and wine. Our rooms were stunning. The facilities at the hotel ensured the whole family could participate in things together, from beach walks to swimming and tennis. The staff were excellent. - Kirsten Hayward - October 2018
Friendly, welcoming staff who couldn't do enough for us, including finding me a hairbrush as I'd forgotten to pack mine. We loved the relaxed atmosphere, which you don't always get at a "posh" hotel. Our room was enormous and the bathroom bigger! The pool was a decent size too. - Michele Blake - April 2018
