Good Hotel Guide Review
A favourite hangout of the England football team, the former home of Lord Louis Mountbatten is ‘well-run’, with contemporary bedrooms, cosseting suites, a good choice of eating and drinking spaces, and a magnificent spa. Bedrooms in the extended Georgian manor house have king-size beds and ESPA bath products; upmarket mews suites, in landscaped gardens in a gated compound, offer extra privacy. The bustling, light-drenched brasserie has classic bistro dishes (‘seemingly something for everyone’); a new pan-Asian restaurant serves sharing plates. In addition to the 'impressive' Cottonmill spa, several walled gardens provide space for relaxation and reflection. Breakfasts are ‘plentiful and nicely served, and the poached eggs were excellent’.
