Pheasants wander the enclosed gardens and woodland of this stone-built Victorian house, with its lofty, glass-fronted extension. In a Highland setting, it is within easy walking distance of the town. Once the home of a respected community doctor, it is now owned and amiably run as a modern B&B by Lynne Fordyce and John Watters. In the main house and converted stables, 14 contemporary bedrooms are thoughtfully supplied with tea and coffee-making facilities, bottles of water and locally made biscuits. A log-burning stove warms the spacious lounge. The buffet breakfasts offer home-made compotes and Perthshire honey, whisky and cream porridge, cereals and fresh croissants.
