Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Miles of single-track road’ lead to this remote hotel with ‘a breathtaking vista of the Summer Isles and the distant mountains of Wester Ross’. Bedrooms, some in an eco log cabin, have their own style. Our inspectors’ room was ‘simply furnished and warm, with a most comfortable bed’, a ‘clean, spacious’ bathroom. Garvie suite, and Ben Mor in the boathouse, have a sitting room with exposed stone walls and a log-burner. At night, ‘a meal to savour’ included ‘cullen skink with generous quantities of beautifully smoked fish, pink venison, Hebridean cheeses in peak condition’. Breakfast was not up to the same standard, although yoghurt and compôte won praise. ‘The welcome and service from manager Alex were genial and engaging.’
