Good Hotel Guide Review

Readers are effusive in their praise for this ‘truly outstanding’ hotel, in a Victorian villa close to Windermere, with luxurious bedrooms, thoughtful comforts and ‘first-class service’. Much of Cedar Manor’s success is down to the welcoming owners, Jonathan and Caroline Kaye, ‘who go out of their way to make you feel at home’. The ‘quiet and peaceful’ location, ‘a short walk to Orrest Head and not too far from Windermere train station’, helps too. ‘Tastefully decorated’ bedrooms have a contemporary country-house style with Herdwick wool carpets, bespoke wood furniture and spoiling touches: bathrobes, fresh milk and chocolates, plus REN products in the ultra-modern bathrooms, some with spa bath; only one is shower only. One reader loved their ‘view to the lakeland fells’. ‘There is fantastic attention to detail.’ ‘Afternoon tea is a must’, with home-made scones and cakes, while simple supper platters offer local produce. Alternatively, it’s an easy walk to the nearby eateries the Kayes recommend. ‘Delicious’ breakfasts have ‘many options’, including smoked haddock, Cumbrian grill and vegetarian alternative. Comments about Cedar Manor

Cedar Manor is an outstanding guest house. Beautiful accommodation, cleanliness is exceptional, the hosts are so friendly and well organised. Their afternoon tea is one not to be missed, it's one of the best out there. Felt very safe during these difficult times via Covid, They made you feel so welcome. - Jennifer Ingham - December 2021
Cedar Manor is a wonderful small boutique hotel, very comfortable and restored in keeping with its Victorian origins. The restaurant is first class and both breakfast and dinner had imaginative menus with delicious food cooked to a very high standard. I highly recommend staying and eating at the hotel. - - July 2019
We stayed in the newly renovated Windermere Room which was stunning. The four- poster bed was luxurious and the room was beautifully decorated . The whole hotel was gorgeous and in a perfect location being only a five-minute walk into town. Jonathan was a charming host. Breakfast was delicious - I recommend the pancakes! - Stephanie Dawson - April 2017
