Good Hotel Guide Review
A second venture for the team behind London’s Georgian House Hotel (see entry), the former Oak Bank Hotel has had a boutique makeover. Situated outside Grasmere’s village centre, it has a light and airy feel, with serene, muted colours, vintage rugs on slate floors, modern art, plush sofas, original Victorian features. Bedrooms have hand-picked vintage and upcycled pieces. Stargazer doubles have a star map and a telescope through which to behold the night sky. Dog-friendly rooms have an outside wash tap. A coffee machine can be had on request. A riverside shepherd’s hut has outdoor seating and a firepit. Breakfast showcases local and artisan produce, and there are maps and guidebooks for walkers.
