Good Hotel Guide Review

The 'ridiculously good value' offered at this B&B astounds readers, who love staying at Walter and Nuala Sweeney's Georgian townhouse, where personal photographs and heirlooms complement the handsome original features. Minutes from Beverley centre, the home is full of antiques, books and curios set against shuttered windows, polished-wood floors and marble fireplaces. ‘It is impossible to fault our stay,' say readers. 'It was an even better experience than previously,' wrote a reader on a return visit as part of a group of six walking the Yorkshire Wolds Way. The well-upholstered feel, with plump chairs, pictures and Victorian rugs, continues in the bedrooms. One has a rocking horse, another overlooks the walled garden. Bathrooms are spacious and traditional. Thoughtful extras, including sherry, fresh milk and flowers, are praised, as is the garden. ‘A surprising oasis in the very centre of the town.’ A 'simply superb' breakfast includes omelettes, smoked salmon, pancakes and a full Yorkshire. In the evening, book into one of Walter's recommended restaurants in town. 'Walter and Nuala couldn't have been more welcoming.' (Simon Richards, Simon Rose, H and A B)

Comments about Newbegin House

A first class welcome, a good night\'s sleep and a superb breakfast were followed by a personal tour of the lovely gardens. All that and excellent value. - Mark Mulrooney - April 2019
Excellent value for money. We were impressed by the quality of the bedroom and its setting - we overlooked he magical walled garden. In the elegant breakfast room, with white linen on tables, the home-made bread was too good to toast. The enticing choice of honey, jams and marmalade made it necessary to try them all. - Peter Roy and Fiona Pudsey - June 2017
