Good Hotel Guide Review

The bar of this 19th-century ironstone and limestone village pub-with-rooms is reassuringly cosy and welcoming, with wing armchairs, antique settles, warm lighting, and Farrow and Ball palette. Warmth comes from both the log fire and the much-loved landlady, Lorraine Willoughby, who owns and runs the pub with her husband, Paul, and who readers say is the life and soul of the place. The bedrooms are attractive and 'very comfortable', with antique furniture, complimentary biscuits and bottled water, and modern bathrooms with drench showers. Everything is 'spotlessly clean'. In the restaurant, the menus are more high end than pub grub, with dishes such as ‘excellent cheese soufflé’, beef, Guinness and mushroom pie, or wild mushroom and parmesan tortellini. On fine days, eat outside on the terrace and enjoy the rural setting. ‘Breakfast was particularly good.’ The conservation village, formerly part of the Brownlow estate, sits atop an escarpment with views over the Trent and Belvoir vales. Readers love it: ‘Excellent accommodation and wonderful meals in a very interesting setting.' ‘Highly recommended.’ 'Friendly service and good food.' Comments about The Brownlow Arms

Excellent accommodation and wonderful meals in an interesting setting. - Rogee Griffihts - June 2021
Because this inn is in rural Lincolnshire., we had expected a distinctly rustic feel to our stay: in fact, the décor and furnishings are fresh and tasteful ln the style and colours that are fashionable amongst urban professionals. Lorraine, the patronne, has a warm-hearted informal manner, and is hands-on and keen to help. Our room was attractively fitted out with a comfortable bed. At dinner, the starters and main courses were beautifully prepared, and the roast pork was outstanding. The desserts perhaps displayed less lightness of touch, but were still very good. r - Robert and Joan Grimley - May 2019
Lorraine Willoughby, joint proprietor of this homely village pub, is a wonderfully hospitable figure, hugely energetic and exuding enthusiasm for the business. The tastefully decorated restaurant with its generously padded armchairs was packed, perhaps because this is the Lincolnshire dining pub of 2018. The food is of excellent quality, locally sourced. A small but interesting wine list. Breakfast is appetizing, promptly served and piping hot. We had a good-sized room, with a comfortable bed and Iarge bathroom. Very good value. - Robert Gower - February 2018
