Good Hotel Guide Review

Walks from the doorstep, views of Peak District hills, a peaceful garden, breakfast feasts and comfortable bedrooms… it’s no surprise that Underleigh wins so much praise. ‘An absolute gem!’ enthuses a reader who has been returning for five years. ‘The location is stunning', and the 'welcome is perfect with home-baked scones and tea'. Vivienne Taylor’s handsome stone longhouse has a pretty, colourful garden – ‘a bonus on warm days when you can enjoy the fresh air and scenery’ – and inside, there are glowing lamps and deep sofas in the fire-warmed lounge. Bedrooms, ‘with amazing views’, are elegant with pretty wallpaper, pale-painted furniture, an occasional antique, and are spotlessly clean. Three are suites with large sofas; one opens to the garden. Thoughtful touches include bathrobes and fresh milk. Breakfast, served at a large table in the beamed and flagged dining room, offers home-made bread and compotes, Aga-cooked porridge, eggs Benedict, and a full grill. ‘It kept us fuelled for the day.’ Vivienne can advise on walks. She is ‘the perfect host’ who ‘ensures guests are really well catered for’. 'Highly recommended and very good value for money.' (Penny Robb, David Preston, JE, SD, and others)

Comments about Underleigh House

Lovely cosy B&B, really welcoming and fabulous location. Rooms were warm & cosy with amazing views of the Peaks. Breakfast was lovely and kept us fueled for the day. We hope to be back soon! - Jonathan Evans - November 2021
The location is stunning. The B&B is ideally situated for walkers with plenty of parking so you don't have to drive anywhere to access fantastic walks. The breakfast menu is so comprehensive that you would need to stay for weeks to taste the wonderful array of choices. Sarah Dennis – Aug 21 - Sarah Dennis - August 2021
One of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed at in the UK, and rightly selected for B&B of the year in their GHG 2020 César awards. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Vivienne, and we had the wonderful Townhead Garden Suite. The staff were extremely friendly and the breakfasts first class. We had three great evenings here. Vivienne went out of her way to help us enjoy the beautiful Derbyshire Dales and recommended some great walks. - Mike Clark - September 2020
We have been staying at Underleigh House for many years, and were delighted that they have been able to reopen after Covid lockdown. Vivienne and Philip have made the very best they can to adapt to the new way of doing things in a Covid secure way, It is not quite the same as usual but still offered a truly great experience and a wonderful breakfast we have come to love. Our stay was very restful and relaxed staying in one of their lovely comfortable suites. - Ceinwen Tilley - August 2020
Vivienne and Philip were the best hosts. We felt like we had been invited to stay with friends. Beautiful breakfast and wonderful company of the other guests. One of our favorite hotels out of the many trips we have taken. - Denise Pierce - July 2019
