Good Hotel Guide Review

Beyond the Doric portico of a white stucco neo-classical mansion, this boutique hotel captures the eclectic charms of glamorous and bohemian Notting Hill. Acquired by Peter and Jessica Frankopan’s Curious Group of Hotels in 2014, it has been styled by Jessica with a mix of heritage chic, ’60s pizzazz and Portobello Road finds. Rooms, many of which are fresh from a refurb, are painted in bold colours or feature designer wallpapers. Doubles range from ‘cosy’, with an exotic de Gournay mural, to grand signature rooms with a garden view, a shower and freestanding roll-top bath. No two are alike. The most desired has a circular bed with diaphanous drapes. Two lower-ground-floor ‘roomy rooms’ have a private patio, while two attic box rooms are singles. All have a minibar, a coffee machine, fine porcelain and own-brand natural Green & Spring bath products. There is an honesty bar in the sitting room, where you can take a continental breakfast (cooked dishes are available at extra cost) – or have it brought to your room. Spa-and-stay breaks include access to partner venture Cloud Twelve Wellness Spa, five minutes away.
