Good Hotel Guide Review

Guests are welcomed with tea or coffee and home-baked biscuits at the Mernagh family’s farmhouse B&B beside a 15th-century fortified tower house. This is very much a lived-in and loved home, a place to relax and unwind, perhaps with a glass of wine from the honesty bar. The styling is traditional, with some cherished period pieces, including an antique grandfather clock. Most of the bedrooms are on the first and second floors of the house. Two more are at ground level in the courtyard. All have spring water from the artesian well, magazines and electric blankets. The views are of the gardens, the working dairy farm and the countryside, with distant glimpses of the coast from some of the bedrooms. Breakfast brings a wide choice of buffet and cooked dishes, home-baked soda bread and scones, pancakes, a full Irish with black and white pudding, eggs from the hens, honey from the hives, and fruit from the garden. Guests can explore the farm, climb the tower, play croquet, tennis, footgolf (exactly what it sounds like) on the 15-hole course, or try their hand on the driving range.
