Good Hotel Guide Review
Above the rugged cliffs and white-sand beaches of Lizard Point, Cornwall’s most southerly hotel is being reinvented as a contemporary retreat in harmony with nature and the seasons. Bedrooms, with Atlantic or countryside views, some with original Victorian features, have a restful palette. The best have a coffee machine and mini fridge. Yoga classes are on offer. In Fallowfields restaurant, Joseph Fallowfield cooks a locally sourced ‘interesting menu’. In the sea-facing Terrace, enjoy dishes such as monkfish ‘scampi’, seaweed tartar sauce, lemon, fennel and chilli salad; sweet pea, asparagus and kale risotto, candied pumpkin seeds, pea shoots. Breakfast is similarly imaginative. ‘It felt such a remote and unique experience; I can’t wait to return in winter.’
