Good Hotel Guide Review
What began life as a cliff-top coastguard station in 1847 has metamorphosed into a relaxed luxury hotel in rural seclusion, with its own beach a walk away. It is a resort in its own right, family centred, a little tricky to reach down narrow lanes, and more difficult to leave. Accommodation includes sea-view balcony bedrooms, self-catering family suites (stock up on groceries en route; you won't be 'just popping out'), and ‘enormous garden suites that open directly to the lawn’. Enjoy casual dining in the restaurant, dog-friendly lounge/bar area and on the terrace. Maybe fish and chips, burger, Devon lamb rack, ‘mint sauce’, braised lamb faggot, garlic potato, good vegan options. If the drive is too daunting you can take the ferry from Salcombe and hike the coast path.
