Amid the awe-inspiring landscape of the North West Highlands Geopark, in gardens bordering Badcall Bay, Fiona and Richard Trevor’s 'very special hotel' receives readers' acclaim. 'We were transfixed by the views over the sea lochs and distant shore of Assynt.' Our inspector received ‘a friendly welcome’ and was shown to ‘a spacious first-floor, sea-view’, dog-friendly room. ‘All bedrooms have newly fitted, basic-level bathrooms.' The style is contemporary and unfussy; 'some furniture is weathered'. Personal touches include ‘cakes on arrival, free tea and coffee throughout a stay’, a packed lunch – and a breakfast sausage for the pooch. A short, locally sourced, evening menu might include salmon from the nearby Loch Duart Salmon House, with citrus butter sauce. ‘Cooking of a high quality; good seabass and rib-eye steak’ was served on delicately patterned Highland Stoneware crockery. Breakfast brings ‘tempting yoghurt, compote, fruit salad, generous quantities of smoked salmon with scrambled egg’. ‘On our departure, there was a goodie box with apples and caramel wafers for our journey.’ (Mary Watt, David Crawley, Phil Hardaker, Diane Leaver, and many others)

We stayed here half way through our NC 500 camping trip for a break. Perfect place , lovely stay. We had forgotten they offer complimentary cream tea in the afternoon so that was a lovely surprise. We had a beautiful dinner too. They are well equipped for dogs and have a lovely little garden to walk around. Breakfast was also lovely. Great Hotel good food and a warm welcome - - September 2021

We have just returned from a delightful stay at Eddrachilles Hotel in north west Scotland. The hotel is set in a magnificent location with a lovely garden going down to the water's edge and views of the distant mountains. Richard and Fiona are delightful hosts who have created a friendly and relaxed atmosphere for their guests whist maintaining first class service. All the staff could not have been more helpful. The chef is a miracle worker who produced the best food we tasted in a three week holiday in Scotland. We particularly enjoyed the afternoon tea of scones and clotted cream and home made cake that was served in the conservatory. This extra was free, included in the very reasonable room price. Set in an outstanding position in extensive gardens, overlooking the beautiful north west coast of Scotland, the endless views are fantastic. This was my second visit. Richard and Fiona look after their guests well with splendid food and wines to choose from and comfortable rooms. The hotel is on the NC 500 route and is worth the drive to get there! It feels as if we are sharing the hosts' home; they are are always nearby. Afternoon tea is included and perfect. Room details well above the standard of most hotels. The lounge and glassed veranda have unbeatable views. Filled bookcases around the premises.The bottled beer choice is beyond criticism. I like to wander down the short garden paths to the sea. Absolutely wonderful. After a warm welcome we were shown to a delightful room. We had tea and home-made cakes in the sunshine. Dinner and breakfast were both of a high standard . A superb position, and a wonderful retreat in stormy weather. Our very comfortable room had a view across the garden to the sea, two comfortable chairs and a desk/dressing table. Afternoon tea with home-made cakes and scones was served at no charge in the sun lounge with a wood burning stove. Before the full Scottish breakfast I particularly enjoyed porridge served with cream and Drambuie. One dinner which stood out comprised local scallops beautifully cooked. We loved the veloute soups.
