Good Hotel Guide Review
A superb base for exploring the surrounding Norfolk Broads, this country-house hotel in a ‘beautiful Georgian building’ has a private lake and gardens on the River Bure. Bedrooms have a restful palette, spa toiletries, home-made brownies, some a balcony or terrace. Crab Apple summer-house suite, in Scandi style, with river views, got a thumbs-up but readers warned of low-lying beams in Damson. At dinner, a short menu includes dishes such as sea bass with crayfish tails, shellfish bisque, ricotta and chive dumplings, cauliflower purée, confit fennel, leek top oil. ‘The food is excellent.’ A vegetarian was impressed that the chef prepared a different dish for her each night. There are treatment rooms and you can hire a boat for the day.
