Good Hotel Guide Review
‘A charming and stately old pension,’ say visitors. In a pedestrianised street near the Karntner Strasse, this 19th-century building, with its baroque facade, flowery window boxes and wrought iron doors, is close to St Stephan’s cathedral. ‘Graceful entrance, friendly welcome. The large Reception has a beautiful chandelier. Our room, attractive and bright, if a bit small, faced the front but was quiet. Wonderfully comfy large bed, lovely linens, antique furniture; good shower room. Very generous breakfasts (fresh fruit, good rolls, sausages, eggs if wanted). Great value.’ The manager is Claudia Neumann-Ungersböck. The bedroom decor is quite simple and some feel could do with a renovation; others find it old-fashioned but charming. Those visiting in the height of summer may find the ventilation system inefficient.
