The location couldn’t be better – in a square in the heart of old Vienna, and opposite St Stephan’s Cathedral – and the service friendlier. The hotel is environmentally conscious where possible, and bathrooms have welcome underfloor heating and triple-glazed insulation on the windows. Some superior doubles have roof terraces, and some have cathedral views; all are simply furnished but very comfortable, with good bathroom toiletries and hypo-allergenic bedding. The Bar Aragall is the location for the generous breakfast buffet, and also serves lunch and dinner, afternoon tea, coffee or cake, and evening cocktails.
