Good Hotel Guide Review
‘One of the attractions of this gem,’ write its nominators, ‘is its location on a junction of canals just behind the Doge’s Palace.’ In the warren of little streets 100 metres from St Mark’s Square, it is a restored 17th century palazzo, decorated in 15th-century Venetian style. ‘Our large air-conditioned front room, elegantly furnished, overlooked the canals and the Bridge of Sighs. Despite this, we found the area comparatively quiet, apart from the occasional late-night gondola. The breakfast rooms, though in a large cellar, are light and attractive. The buffet has excellent selections of cold and hot dishes. Bar snacks are served. Staff were particularly helpful in providing local directions.’ Besides the palazzo rooms, the hotel has an annexe connected to the main hotel by a traditional Venetian courtyard. Breakfast is served in a separate lounge but guests enjoy the same common areas and concierge services as the main hotel.
