Good Hotel Guide Review
“A haven of rural peace and quiet”, this 15th-century red brick château has been owned by the de Ponsay family since 1644 and is currently run by Aurelia and Laurent Ponsay; the “family feel” was enjoyed by visitors. Other comments: “The place has great charm.” “A friendly welcome; a good meal. Our room was lovely, comfortable.” “Ours had a delightful canopied bed, superb modern bathroom, view of Charollais cattle in a field.” Meals are often served communally, in a candlelit room with pale blue walls hung with blue plates, a big chandelier with blue candles. “We were the only guests: we dined at a small table in the salon.” “Breakfast had a good choice of breads, croissants, jams; excellent coffee.” The remarkable son-et-lumière of Vendée history is at Le Puy-du-Fou (25 km).
