Good Hotel Guide Review
At the entrance of this village in the beautiful Val d’Annivers, Anne-Françoise and Claude Buchs-Favre’s large white, blue-shuttered hotel dates from 1859. It has fine views of mountains including the Matterhorn, and is well placed for skiing in the St-Luc and Chandolin areas. A family with two teenage daughters loved it. ‘Atmosphere warm and welcoming. Our spacious room was comfortable. We enjoyed all our meals and still remember the fragrance of the bowls of pot-pourri throughout the building.’ The decor is attractive, in restrained style: carved beds, parquet floors, polished furniture; neutral curtains in the bedrooms. ‘Spectacular floral arrangements.’ The old salon is used for musical weekends and lectures. There are two dining rooms, each with frescoed ceiling: one serves fondues, raclette, salads, etc, the other sophisticated French cuisine. In summer, guests take tea under ancient trees in the garden. A spa with swimming pool, sauna, is popular. Hiking trips, with picnic, can be arranged.
