Good Hotel Guide Review
On the corner of the tiny square of this small, unspoilt Tuscan town stands Anne-Marie and Ueli Bleuler-Staerkle’s hotel; from the back it commands a ‘tremendous view of distant hills and mountains’. ‘The dedicated owners give enormous personal attention to detail,’ says a report this year. ‘I can think of few more pleasant holiday experiences than dining on the terrace overlooking olive groves and vineyards. As the light fades, the hills change colour from green to blue and lights around Florence begin to twinkle. Tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms; super bistecca alla Fiorentina, washed down by Chianti Classico, precede the best sleep of the year.’ Another visitor also admired the ‘ever-present’ owners and their ‘helpful and jolly’ staff. ‘Our large room was simple, well ordered and comfortable. No air conditioning, but walls were thick.’ The ‘beautiful’ swimming pool is some way away, down a hill. Topographical maps are provided free of charge.
