The location of this stylish new hotel (it opened in 2015) couldn’t be bettered – it’s 100m from Florence Cathedral and in easy walking distance of the city’s major sights. Although it’s set in a Renaissance-style building retaining many original architectural details (such as exposed wood beam ceilings), the interiors are decidedly chic and modern; a welcome touch is the free minibar (alcoholic drinks excluded). A nominator writes, ‘the rooms were of a very high standard and had a huge bathroom with a jacuzzi and power shower, plus a balcony with street views. Soundproofing meant we had a great night’s sleep.’ A breakfast buffet is included and served on the top floor, next to a rooftop terrace with panoramic views. There’s also a spa area for couples with a sauna, hammam and hot tub, and a bar/lounge on the ground floor which serves snacks and light meals.
