Good Hotel Guide Review
Near the centre of a quiet village, and close to the télésiège which serves the ski areas of Les Saisies and L’Espace Diamant, Anne-Christine and Frédéric Boulanger have since 2003 run their alpine hotel/restaurant. Belonging to the group Hôtels Chalets de Tradition, it has a charming rustic decor with much wood, old stone and beams, and local fabrics in bright colours. Flower baskets bedeck its balconies, and there is an outdoor pool with jacuzzi, heated in summer. Chairs stand on a terrace with panoramic views over the Beaufortain valley to Mont Blanc. The bedrooms are in a converted farmhouse; the best ones are spacious, and have an area for children. Some rooms have a low ceiling. There is a salon with open fire and ‘book corner’. ‘A true Scandinavian experience’ is promised in the health facilities, which include sauna, hammam and beauty treatments (free to residents). In the purpose-built restaurant with its heavily beamed ceiling, a ‘cuisine des Alpes’is accompanied by wines from the Savoie. The Boulangers speak good English, and bicycles can be borrowed.
