Good Hotel Guide Review
Third generation hoteliers Brigitte and Christian Hoeflinger-von Siebenthal run this stylish hotel very close to Saanenmoser – 1,270ft above sea level and offering hiking, golf and mountain biking in the summer and skiing in the winter. A recent visitor enthused, ‘It has grown over the years but the expansion has been cleverly managed, so the atmosphere is more like a homely chalet rather than a resort hotel’. Recently-renovated rooms are in four interconnected chalets, and are rustic and cozy, with wood panelling and balconies or terraces with either mountain or garden views. There’s a restaurant offering ‘an enormous breakfast buffet’ and regional cuisine (fondue, raclette etc), ‘with a succession of linked small rooms and alcoves, which creates the illusion that there are no more than half a dozen tables in the whole restaurant’. The Hoeflinger-von Siebenthals ‘speak with diners all evening, not as a task expected of the owners of an immaculately-run Swiss hotel but because they enjoy the exchanges and are concerned with their guests’ welfare in general. They are so attentive that. on their guests’ departure, they insist on organising transport for those obliged to undertake the gruelling, luggage-laden trek of some 100m to the railway station’.
