Good Hotel Guide Review
“Family-run and it shows,” say visitors this year to this chalet-style building (“like a 1930s English cottage with a touch of Gallic flair”). Everyone agrees that the owners, Christine and Jean-Claude Bise, and their staff are “charming”. Madame is “much in evidence”. The large dining room faces the water, and in fine weather guests eat under trees on the “wonderful” lake-facing terrace. Bedrooms, “done with charm and individuality”, are in the main building (many here have a balcony) and in two tall villas in the gardens. “The excellent tiled bathrooms are spacious.” Public rooms are light, cheerful and smart. Diners were “very impressed by the care and attention we received”. In the attractive restaurant, with “comfortable seating, crisp napery, good china and glass”, the food is “probably the best in Talloires: the fish dishes are superb”. The flowery gardens are pretty; by the pool are lots of loungers and parasols. Pedalos, rowing boats and kayaks are available, plus guided walks in the mountains. Children are welcomed.
