Good Hotel Guide Review
“The food is excellent,” say visitors. In a wine village in the Beaujolais, this restaurant-with-rooms (Logis de France) is run by Bertrand Alizer and his partner Kesaram Choudhary. Alizer’s “cuisine du terroir soignée” is served in a rustic dining room or on a flowery terrace. Accommodation consists of spacious modern suites in a pavilion, or double rooms in a simpler auberge down the road. Here, the nominators had a room that was “small and short on drawer space, but otherwise well equipped, with a good shower room”. At dinner they enjoyed dos de saumon sauce ciboulette; coq au vin de Juliénas; cassis sorbet; figues rôties et glace basilique. “The restaurant is always bursting at the seams with a French/European clientele. Good use is made of herbs. We ate in the dining room where breakfast is served: in the evening it is quite elegant: white tablecloths, subtle lighting. Breakfast is a buffet with a wide choice: croissants, pastries and jams are home made.” Meals are also served on a veranda which becomes a terrace in summer, and parasols stand in the garden. A more casual sister restaurant, Taverne du Coq, is next door.
