‘An idyllic luxury hotel in the Camargue”, this neat whitewashed mas is isolated by a lagoon just north of the Camargue”s little seaside capital. All around are sea, beaches and much wildlife. This sophisticated place attracts many French celebrities (Émmanuelle Béart, Daniel Auteuil, Bernadette Chirac have stayed). Our reporter wrote: “Our room was like a cool cave. A curtain separated the bedroom from a spectacular bathroom with a large, low-walled ceramic bath/shower in vaguely Roman style. There was a small sitting area, and a private terrace overlooking the salt marshes. We saw swallows and swifts skimming the water, flamingos flying overhead and a couple of creamy Camargue horses cropping the grass nearby. Dinner was excellent, a simple menu with limited choice, but all delicious.” Activities include horse riding on the beach and cycling.
