Good Hotel Guide Review
‘A lovely discovery’, by a regular Guide correspondent. Just outside this medieval village perché north of Orange, above the Rhône, it is only a kilometre from the A7, ‘but it could be a world away’. The owners, Serge and Nadège Fricaud, have refurbished an old bastide in ‘hand-painted Provençal’ style. Some rooms have a second living room and a patio, and there’s a small swimming pool. The food is highly rated: ‘Dinner was a relaxed three-hour affair, many courses, professionally served, owner/chef much in evidence; Provençal dishes like tomato and olive pissaladière, lavender honey ice cream; huge selection of cheeses. Breakfast perfect, not a packet to be seen, bowls of butter, jam and honey, hot croissants and a pile of fruit. Plenty of safe parking.’ There is a large terrace, shaded by plane trees, where summer meals are served.
