Good Hotel Guide Review
“You can tick all the “Good Hotel” boxes for this one,” say the nominators of this “beautiful house, away from traffic on the edge of a spectacular village”. The elegant 19th-century building, below the Renaissance château where the Marquise de Sévigny often stayed, is owned by the “omnipresent” Hartmut and Michèle Alberts (“he is gentle and thoughtful, she adds a touch of glamour”). “His background is the theatre, hers dancing,” explains the brochure. They are helped by their son, an enthusiastic chef. They provide “comfortable, modern rooms, not OTT, a first-rate restaurant, a quality breakfast”. The rotunda dining room looks through big windows to the garden where summer meals are served, roses grow and there is a “nice pool”. The menu might include loup rôti en jus de coquillage; agneau de lait, millefeuille de pommes de terre aux olives. And all this is “not too expensive”.
